No illness or virus is to be taken lightly. It is always a serious issue when someone’s health is at risk, no matter the severity. And although the COVID-19 virus has proven to be a mild type of influenza virus when compared to SARS or MERS, it is always best to be prepared and know what actions to take.
Therefore GTR24H will follow the guidelines from the Danish authorities, the Danish National Board of Health in particular. And we will react as they decree. There are already special laws prepared in Denmark, that govern how both private and government organizations should react in case of epidemics. So far Denmark has not activated any of these laws, but all government organizations have received guidelines on how their daily business routines should be changed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In the laws, there are several levels. Some prevent events with a certain number of participants. Some prevent public gatherings of more than 10 people and at the most extreme border will be closed. We will follow the guidelines to the point and take the necessary precautions.
If big events are prohibited, we will close the doors to spectators. If public gatherings are prohibited we will execute the event as an online race.
The current state as of today 6th of March is that the Danish National Board of Health advises cancelling all events with over 1.000 people. This means that if the final round in Viborg was this weekend, it would be closed to spectators, but not cancelled. There are 230 days to the main event so this could change many times before then and hopefully, this information will become completely irrelevant before October.
