The current situation in Denmark is that Covid-19 infection numbers are the lowest since the outbreak arrived in Denmark back in February. The current epidemic laws allow for events with five-hundred participants. With the right precautions in place, that can even be lifted to more than a thousand. Most of Denmark has not seen any new infections for the last three weeks. From this perspective, we are doing quite well and in June things were looking promising for the big event in October. But that is not the general trend in the rest of the world.

One thing is that teams and team members from certain countries would find it difficult to cross the Danish borders, but the most important thing is that we do under no circumstance want to but anyone at any health risk, by participating in our event. No driver, team members, or family of spectators or participants should feel at risk because of our event.

We do not want to force anyone to make a choice between participating in our event and putting themselves and their entire families and friends at risk. The GTR24H organization knows first-hand how a coronavirus infection is no joke, and no matter your age can come with long-lasting if not chronic life-changing effects.

Your safety and the safety of our staff and partners come first. Therefore it is with great regret and hopes for a better 2021 that GTR24H has to announce: There will be no EEWC LAN event for 2020.

The race will still be executed as planned although as an online race. And we will do our utmost to present you with an online event of the highest possible quality. The team behind GTR24H has just grown with five eager and passionate new members, and a unique strategy for promoting the teams and participating drivers has been devised. We continue our dedicated work to secure further TV broadcast deals to strengthen the viewership and reach for the benefit of both teams and the organization.

Regarding the sign-up fees and tickets. The 2020 tickets will be extended to cover 2021 as well. That means if you already have a 2020 entry ticket for your team, you now have a free entry for the entire 2021 EEWC Series Season including the 2021 EEWC as well. Ticket prices will not change. There will be no tickets sold that only covers the 2020 EEWC Online Race. If you decide to enter a team, you will get an entry for both the rest of the 2020 EEWC Season, the 2020 EEWC Online finale race, and the entire 2021 season including the 2021 EEWC finale.

We considered a lot of options before coming to this decision. A mixed event with both local and online teams was considered. A pure online event with an exhibition for local partners and spectators with the commentary crew present and the race being shown on a big screen was also considered. And basically every single variation of the event between purely online and purely local was debated. In the end, the safety and health of everyone involved weighed the heaviest. And the argument that no driver, team member, staff, partner, or spectator should ever feel any pressure or insecurity in regards to showing up at our events.

Therefore, no LAN event, pure online race, and the tickets will cover both 2020 and 2021 EEWC Seasons.

We ask for your understanding and respect for this tough choice that we have made. We love you all, and we will see you online in October and face to face in 2021.
