GTR24Hh And Studio397 Enters a 5-year Strategic Partnership
We know this news will come as a shock for our many teams and drivers since we recently changed the entire series to Iracing. But to put it straight, and for the sake of our company and teams that change was a huge mistake. A mistake we know that many weren’t happy about, and disliked. Sometimes in a Company, your strategy will move down the wrong path, and sometimes you need to stop, and re-evaluate and ask, “Is the right thing to do?”
That has been the situation over the past couple of months within GTR24h, and after multiple meetings internally, and recent constructive meetings with Studio397. We now know that turned our backs to Studio397 was wrong.
For that, I want to sincerely apologize on behalf of GTR24h to Studio397, and the many teams which have supported us throughout the years and continuously making suggestions to better the experience, especially EEWC. I want to also apologize to the teams who invested their money in Iracing because of our sudden change in early January. We know that we will get a lot of criticism for our move back to our roots, but I hope the teams will be supportive and understand that it wasn’t easy and shouldn’t have been done in the first place.
For teams that have already signed up for our iRacing season can get a full refund or continue in our rFactor2 2020 season. The price for our rFactor 2 – 2020 season will be set at the same 325 euros(which includes a license to Studio397) and will not change.
There will not be any EEWC only ticket, but a 2020 season ticket, but if the team only wants to take part at EEWC, they are still allowed to do so. The 2020 season is meant as a supplement to our EEWC-show. The teams which aren’t taking part in our season, can naturally not be the overall winner of the class they sign up in. There will be an EEWC server running only LeMans very soon as well.
The first race of our EEWC 2020 season will be at Sebring 12 hours from April 10/11th – we know we originally planned to be racing on Dubai Autodrome, but unfortunately, we do not have the time to make the changes to the track due to our sudden change back to rFactor2. The Server for Sebring will be running on the 25th of January at 8 PM CEST and we will be getting a lot of teams signing up for the race and season.
- In June 2020 from the 18/19th we will be visiting the Nurburgring GP for 12hours of racing.
- In August 2020 from 21/23th of August, we will be back at the famous Sao Paolo for 24-hours of hardcore fast pace racing.
- In October 2020 from the 22/25th we will be at the grand final in Vibocold Arena for Le Mans @ EEWC.
With the recent change back to rFactor2 it will bring many great things. Since GTR24h will be moving into closer cooperation with Studio397 and also their beta testing program that will benefit both parties and to help evolve the platform to become even better. We also want our community of drivers to help make suggestions to Studio397 through us, to better the game experience for all.
With the change back to rFactor2. it will, of course, introduce changes within our company, Paw Lindegaard will be responsible for the teams, and will serve as a Community Manager in GTR24h Community and the go-to guy during our events. Yes, you read it right our Community will be reopened and we want all members to use the Community as a helping hand, and making sure there is room for anybody with a voice. Use the community as guidance and help towards newcomers and people who want help. If you have suggestions towards GTR24h,Paw will be your go-to guy.
On the marketing side of things and news, Jon Fabricius Turell will take care of these activities from now on. All contracts, company sponsorship, and eSport initiatives will be handled by Jon Fabricius Turell.
Peter Munkholm will be stepping down on the marketing activities and handling all back-office operations such as the website, coding and etc, Peter is as well in a new job situation, which takes all his time and it’s impossible for him to be as active as he wants. Therefore don’t expect Peter to be as active on GTR24h as he used to be.
On the Server-side and skinning side, GTR24h will be onboarding two new persons who have years of experience with rFactor2 and Studio397. At this stage, we can’t reveal names yet as their contracts are still to be finalized.
On the commentary side of things, Nick Newcombe remains our head of the Commentary team and will be handling all the activities around the races alongside the great team that brought you full commentary from Viborg EEWC Le Mans 24h.
Lastly and due to our closer cooperation with Studio397, We will have multiple new job listing posted on our Site, Forum and Facebook, which I hope all our teams will support so that we continuously raise the bar and thrive together.
Sincerely,
Jon Fabricius Turell, CEO of GTR24h
