EEWC 2019 Real Racers

Some of the best sim racers in the world travel to Denmark each year to take part in the EEWC, one of the most unique sim racing events on the planet. Some of the sim racers who take part also take part in real-life racing. The similarities between simulations and real-life are becoming more and more as sims get more and more complex. This article is the first of two looking at drivers who compete at the EEWC and in real-life competition.

Competing for HYDR eSports/Team Singularity is perhaps the most well known real-life driver, Lamborghini factory driver, Dennis Lind. The 2018 Blancpain GT Asia champion and current British GT and Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup driver will be looking to improve on the 3rd place finish in the 2018 EEWC.

Frederik Nymark is taking part in the 2019 Supertourismes championship in Denmark and is currently 8th in the points standings. The 24-year-old Dane will be at the EEWC in the #52 MSB Racing LMP2 machine.

One of his teammates in the #52 car will be Casper Pilgaard who this year is taking part in the Danish F4 championship and the Danish Thundersport championship. The FDM-DTC Talentteam driver is lying 5th in the Thundersport standings and together, the #52 will certainly be one to watch in October.

Nymark will, however, be meeting one of his real-life rivals on the virtual track. Frederik Schandorff who is currently 7th in the Danish Thundersport standings will be taking part in one of the two Burst Esport GTE machines. One of his teammates will be 30-year-old Morten Dons. The Dane took part in the Radical European Masters series which supports the International GT Open around Europe. With 1 win, 5 podiums and a 4th place finish in the standings, Dons has shown to be a very fine driver.

With this range of experience, the twin Burst Esport cars will be wanting to improve on their 4th and 8th place finishes in the 2018 EEWC and turn that into a 1-2. With the EEWC fast approaching, these drivers will need to keep not only their real-life racing activities in mind but the EEWC as well as 50 teams come to Viborg on October 24-27.
